Viorel Hrebenciuc, the 61-year-old vice-president of Romania's lower chamber of the national Parliament, resigned on 21 October 2014, a day after prosecutors said they were investigating him for alleged corruption. Mr Hrebenciuc is suspected along with another lawmaker, Dan Șova, of collaborating to produce a bill on pardons in criminal cases that could have benefited him. |
