The European Commission published a statement on 16 September 2015 stating it had no intention to take Germany to court following its plans to implement a national data retention law. The statement highlights that the EC was not planning to put forward a new proposal on this topic, after the European Court of Justice annulled the EU Data Retention Directive. Therefore, member states were free to implement any national law they find appropriate. |
