Syria is the world’s biggest humanitarian crisis. Billions of dollars in international aid are needed to support people caught up in the conflict.

The Supporting Syria and the Region conference will bring together world leaders from around the globe to rise to the challenge of raising the money needed to help millions of people whose lives have been torn apart by the devastating civil war.

The UK, Germany, Kuwait, Norway, and the United Nations will co-host the conference in London on 4 February 2016 to raise significant new funding to meet the immediate and longer-term needs of those affected.

What will the Supporting Syria and the Region conference do?

+ At the conference, leaders from countries around the world, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), the private sector and civil society will come together to:

+ set out the full scale of the crisis and the need for urgent humanitarian aid

+ raise significant new funding to meet the immediate and longer-term needs of those affected by the crisis within Syria and to support neighbouring countries

+ demand protection for innocent civilians whose human rights are being flagrantly disregarded
identify how to create jobs and provide education, offering renewed hope for those forced to flee their homes and more opportunities for the futureThe United Kingdom, Germany, Kuwait, Norway, and the United Nations co-hosted a conference in London on 4 February 2016 to raise significant new funding to meet the immediate and longer-term needs of those affected by the ongoing conflict in Syria, and its impact on its neighbours.

Following the conference it was announced that the participating countries had pledged over $10bn ($5.6bn for 2016 and a further $5.1bn for 2017-20 to enable partners to plan ahead.
