The EU Global Strategy and Defence: Ambitious but Credible?

The author writes that there is much for defence experts to ponder in the EU global strategy issued in June 2016. Three themes in particular stand out.

The first is to guarantee the security of the union and its citizens. A second theme is the link between internal and external security, because EU security 'depends on peace beyond our borders', geographically prioritizing the EU’s broad neighborhood. A third theme is to develop an 'integrated approach' to conflicts.
