Timmermans calls for same-sex marriage across EU

The European Commission's vice-president Frans Timmermans considered in June 2014, during a meeting with ILGA-Europe, that the EC should try to get all the European Union member states to accept same-sex marriages.

The EU executive cannot propose bills on marriage and family affairs, policy areas reserved for national governments.
