Turkey loses its brains

Repression by Turkish authorities in the wake of the failed coup in the country in July 2016, and alleged sympathies with Kurdish interests and of being supporters of cleric Fethullah Gulen, has led to the loss of jobs for many of the country’s academics, educators and researchers, with some entire universities closed down. Many researchers fear for their lives and have fled the country.
