Turkey’s ruling party set to lose majority

Results and analysis from the general election held in Turkey on the 7 June 2015.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan suffered a setback in the elections, with the ruling AKP party failing to win an absolute majority. His hopes of constitutional change could be thwarted.

The AKP's biggest setback came with the rise of the main pro-Kurdish People’s Democracy Party (HDP), which crossed a 10% threshold to enter parliament for the first time.
