Twelve EU countries likely to back Palestine’s UN bid

EUObserver reported that Palestine would be able to count on about 12 Yes votes by EU countries when it tries to upgrade its UN status, in a move expected later in November 2012.

EU Foreign Ministers were due to discuss the subject at a Council meeting 19 November 2012.

The Palestinians took the first step toward raising their status at the United Nations from an observer to a non-member observer state on the 8 November 2012 by circulating a draft resolution to the 193 U.N. member states and asking for their support.
