Ukraine violated Tymoshenko’s rights – European court

On 30 April 2013 BBC News reported that the European Court of Human Rights ruled that Ukraine's pre-trial detention of ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko in 2011 was 'arbitrary and unlawful' and her right to a legal review was violated'.

Tymoshenko, still in jail during the decision, also alleged physical mistreatment, but that complaint was not upheld by the ECHR.
