What political deadlock? Spain’s economy forges ahead

Reports regarding Spain's economic performance - including GDP growth and reduction of unemployment - and the possible impact of the political deadlock that followed two inconclusive elections in December 2015 and June 2016.

Following Spain's announcement that it would not be able to meet the deadlines for presenting fresh austerity measures to address its excessibve budget deficit, EU officials responded with a conciliatory tone considering the political deadlock preventing the country from having a government.
