Press Release: Commission launches formal investigation into annual compensation payments, investment grants to and capital endowment of Emsländische Eisenbahn GmbH

The European Commission has decided to open a formal investigation procedure regarding the annual operating compensation payments for school transport and administrative costs, for the purchase of rolling stock and the operation of a passenger information system for the benefit of Emsländische Eisenbahn GmbH. Following a complaint, the Commission has to examine whether these measures are in line with the European rules on State aid.
