EU enlargement. The constitutional impact at EU and national level

Book abstract:

This book is the report from a conference 'The constitutional impact of enlargement at EU and national level' held in the Hague in September 2000. It was the 30th Colloquium of European Law of the TMC Asser Institute.

The rapporteurs and speakers at the conference were representatives from the European institutions and representatives of the Governments of the Netherlands and some candidate countries, and many representatives of national, civil, administrative and constitutional courts, plus academics. The papers comprise detailed analyses and predictions of the impact of the EU on the constitutional or institutional order in each of the existing Member States and in each of the Candidate countries. There is also a considerable number of papers presented on the Charter of Fundamental Rights and its role in the future European constitutional order.
