Press Release: A further step towards the promotion of European ports

On 5 April 2001 the European Commissioner for Transport and Energy, Loyola de Palacio, welcomed the final adoption of the Commission proposal to include ports in the trans-European networks (TENs). After more than three years of effort, the Council and the European Parliament have agreed that in future European Union ports can be directly linked to the trans-European networks and can benefit from funding in that framework.
