The European Reference Centre for Intermodal Freight Transport (EURIFT) was inaugurated on 15 August 2001 in Hamburg. EURIFT's main aim will be to provide independent and comprehensive information to support the development of the European intermodal transport industry. An initiative of the European Commission, EURIFT is jointly funded by the European Union, the cities of Bremen and Hamburg, as well as by the academic and private sectors.
