Tony Blair has been accused by Conservative defence spokesperson Iain Duncan Smith of 'misleading' President Bush about the European Union's plans for a rapid-reaction force. Mr Bush said he had been assured the force would have joint EU-Nato command. But Geoff Hoon said 25.2.01, the defence secretary, said there were 'low-level' operations where it could act autonomously. |
