Ministers agree details of reform body

European Union foreign ministers, meeting on 8 October 2001, agreed nearly all the details of the special Convention that will meet in 2002 to prepare far-reaching reforms of the EU to enable it to cope with enlargement and be better understood by its citizens. They decided on a modified version of the convention used in 2000 to draw up the EU's Charter of Fundamental Rights, and agreed that EU candidate countries would be represented.
