Press Release: The new digital tachograph will improve enforcement of safety legislation on European roads

The European Commission adopted on 12 June 2002 the technical specifications of the digital tachograph, which will record driving times and rest periods of professional drivers. The new tachograph will be more secure and easier to check than the current system and should thus provide for a better enforcement of Community and national legislation on road transport.
