Washington ‘must bridge gap with NATO allies’

In a speech at a conference on US-European defence relations at The Royal Institute of International Affairs (RIIA), London on 18 February 2002, Lord Robertson, NATO Secretary-General, warned that the gap in defence technology between the US and its NATO allies would become 'unbridgeable' if Washington did not ease restrictions on technology transfer and relax export controls.
