Developing nations urged to follow EU in banning toxic pesticide

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) urged governments in developing countries to ban a toxic pesticide linked to the deaths of more than 20 children in India.

FAO said in a statement on 30 July 2013 that the monocrotophos insecticide, already outlawed in the EU, 'very often poses a serious risk to human health and the environment.'
