MPs bridle at references to an ‘ever-closer’ EU

A report published by the (UK) House of Commons European Scrutiny Select Committee on 21 June 2002 calls for all references to 'ever-closer union' to be removed from the European Union's treaties. The report demands a greater role for national parliaments in the EU decision-making process and states that the Convention on the Future of Europe should not make any decisions about the EU's future.
