The findings of a study of island regions and the group of seven so-called 'outermost regions' were presented by the European Commission on 5 May 2003. This study provides an objective diagnosis of the situation in these regions, and the special development problems facing them. The findings will provide useful input when considering how to take account of their special needs in the proposals for reforming regional policy which the European Commission is to present by the end of 2003.
