EU tax proposal on travel may be blocked

Speaking to MPs and tourism lobbyists on 21 October 2003, the UK's Minister for Tourism, Richard Caborn, indicated that the UK Government might block a European Union tax change that the travel industry warns could cost thousands of jobs.
