In connection with the approaching European Council Summit in Brussels (25 March), the heads of six governments: Spain - José María Aznar, the Netherlands - Jan Peter Balkenende, Italy - Silvio Berlusconi, Portugal - José Manuel Durão Barroso, Poland - Leszek Miller and Estonia - Juhan Parts, today formulated a letter to Bertie Ahern, Prime Minister of Ireland, who is currently duty President of the European Union. This letter expresses the need to provide a fresh impulse to the strategy of economic reforms initiated in Lisbon in 2000 |
