At the meeting of the Governing Council of the ECB, Frankfurt, 4 March 2004, it decided that the minimum bid rate on the main refinancing operations and the interest rates on the marginal lending facility and the deposit facility will remain unchanged at 2.00%, 3.00% and 1.00% respectively. Some political leaders such as German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder had called for a rate reduction to cool the high flying euro against the dollar. |
