On 5 October 2004 the European Commission released the Quarterly Report on the Euro Area. The third issue in 2004 discusses recent economic developments and short-term prospects in the euro area. It also contains two analytical chapters assessing, respectively, developments in profitability and the financial health of the private sector. The Focus section of the report discusses the causes of the pro-cyclicality of fiscal policy in EMU. |
