The European Commission on 26 October 2004 published the 2004 EU Economy Review. The Review contributed to the upcoming Mid-Term Review of the Lisbon Strategy by providing in-depth analysis of the key policy areas and possible trade-offs. The Review argues that reforms were needed to allow new innovative firms to become established and grow in order to address the EU's structural productivity problem. The report also finds further evidence to dispel the myth that gains in employment can only be made at the expense of productivity. |
