The European Commission published a report on 26 October 2004 on the use of the financial resources earmarked for the decommissioning of nuclear installations. The Commission underlined that this was an issue of growing importance considering that by 2025 there would be round 60 reactors to be dismantled of the 155 presently in use in the enlarged European Union.
