A Technology Platform on 'Global Animal Health' was announced by the European Commission on 16 December 2004. The technology platform, launched at a conference on animal diseases in Brussels, is a partnership led by industry and supported by European Commissioner for Development, Louis Michel, European Commissioner for Science and Research, Janez Potocnik, and European Commissioner for Health and Consumer Protection, Markos Kyprianou. The initiative was set up to tackle major animal diseases in the developing world and in Europe. |
