Press Release: Commission proposes unchanged potato starch production quotas for next two years

Based on a report on the quota system for production of potato starch in the EU, the Commission adopted on 6 December 2004 a proposal to extend the current quotas to the marketing years 2005/06 and 2006/07. The underlying argument for the proposed status quo lied in the fact that it was too early to assess the effects of the reform of the CAP, and of enlargement of the EU, on the potato starch sector.
