Draft EU law aims to offer more flexibility

Preview of European Commission proposals to overhaul how companies in the European Union raise capital and deal with shareholders. The proposals, adopted 29 October 2004, form part of a reform of corporate governance rules championed by Frits Bolkestein, the EU Internal Market Commissioner. They reflect the Commission's belief that existing rules on company capital are inflexible and costly.
