The European Commission on 25 January 2005 approved under the EU Merger Regulation the acquisition by British Telecommunications of Infonet Services Corporation, a US operator providing global telecommunications services to large multinational corporations. As the incremental share of the target company in these services was limited, the Commission considered that the operation would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it. |
