Putting regulation to the competitiveness test

With its new Better Regulation package, the European Commission is determined to promote competitiveness by improving European and national legislation. The proposed measures will provide a framework for ensuring that a careful balance is struck between the costs of regulation for companies and the economy as a whole and the benefits of regulatory action towards achieving the EU's social and environmental objectives.
