Acting under the EU Merger Regulation, the European Commission on 4 March 2005 authorised the plan by Cinven, a UK investment fund, to acquire the French cable television and Internet service providers France Télécom Câble and NC Numéricâble. Although both these companies are active in the pay-TV sector in France, it concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the EEA or in a substantial part of it. |
