The European Commission on 4 May 2005 cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition by public bid of RAC plc ('RAC'), a roadside assistance provider, by the UK insurance group Aviva plc ('Aviva'). After examining the operation, the Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the EEA or any substantial part of it. |
