The European Commission on 20 July 2005 approved a social State aid scheme for passengers from the Island of Réunion flying to metropolitan France. The scheme was to be valid for one year. It was intended to compensate the island's inhabitants for the continual disadvantage which they face from transport costs that are far higher than for people living on the French mainland. |
