Easier EU payments

The European Payments Council has agreed that by January 2008 infrastructure will be in place allowing individuals and businesses to make and receive payments within the eurozone. Editorial argues that without fanfare the European Payments Council has radically altered the original idea of a single European payments area (SEPA) to a single euro payments area, emphasising the divide between the eurozone and non-eurozone EU members.
