Turkey ‘likely to begin EU talks on time’

Olli Rehn, the European Union's enlargement commissioner, on 9 August 2005 said he was 'reasonably confident' that Turkey would start EU accession talks as scheduled on 3 October 2005, in an attempt to damp concerns in Ankara that France is preparing to veto the negotiations.
