The Commission extended its investigation into alleged French state aid of 330 million ecu

to shipping group Compagnie Générale Maritime, paid as a precursor to privatisation. The extension concerns a further 173 million ecu of aid to be granted to parent company CGMF to write off some debts and transfer the company's head office to the parent company.
