Commissioner’s cue

Farm Commissioner Franz Fischler has never been one to miss a cue when it comes to having his say.

Unfortunately, as an incident at the recent meeting of EU agriculture ministers showed only too clearly, it is not always the right cue. A mixture of the Commissioner's enthusiasm and UK Agriculture Minister Jack Cunningham's northern accent prompted Fischler to jump into the debate when the minister suggested: “Let's hear from France.”
