Date: 24/07/1997 It never rains but it pours: Sipke Brouwer, head of the Phare technical assistance programme, was replaced recently by Catherine Day. The poor chap was still getting over the change the next morning when he arrived at work to discover that his parking space had been reserved for disabled drivers only After Brouwer rejected an offer to run the Commission's food and veterinary office in Dublin, the job has been snapped up by Peter Prendergast, of the Commission's consumer service. Prendergast does not have the same reluctance as a surprising number of Eurocrats about working in Ireland. Maybe it's because he is Irish. |
