The report gives further details about the long-running controversy over alleged misuse of EU tourism payments, saying the “substantial fraud element could be linked to the irregular activities of former personnel who have been dismissed by the Commission”. It said 2.9 million ecu was related to 76 actions “which are considered to be linked to irregularities or fraud” currently the subject of criminal proceedings in Belgium, France and Greece.
