“The EU earnestly desires to continue helping the Afghan people who have already suffered so much from years of conflict,” the Austrian presidency said in a statement. “However, aid can only continue when it can be delivered in an effective and principled manner, without discrimination.” The European Commission suspended humanitarian aid earlier this month, complaining about unacceptable restrictions imposed by the Taliban government.
