Date: 19/11/1998 Even before a decision has been taken on whether the Commission should represent the euro area in global agencies, it seems some officials are already measuring up for curtains. Sources at the International Monetary Fund claim the Commission has found an office and identified a senior member of the Directorate-General for economic and financial affairs (DGII) to fill it. Strange, given some member states still oppose the Commission having such a role. |
