Date: 12/11/1998 ...announced this week that the EU had asked the Western European Union (WEU) to carry out mine-clearing activities in Croatia. The EU will provide 435,000 ecu to coordinate, supervise and train mine-clearance specialists and instructors in Croatia for one year. It is the first time that the WEU, of which ten EU member states are full members, has been asked to fulfil a role related to the EU's security policy. |
