Bjerregaard toughs it out

Environment Commissioner Ritt Bjerregaard, recently hospitalised after breaking her hip in a nasty fall, not only surprised many of her foreign counterparts by attending the recent climate change conference in Buenos Aires but also astounded her own staff.

The Commissioner, who took a wheelchair to the meeting, was involved in lengthy discussions from 8am on Friday until 6am on Sunday - a tough schedule for even the most energetic night owl.

“I think that was rather impressive,” said an aide. “She was there until the last deal had been made.”
