German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer has called for a rolling-back of the national veto on EU decision-making

In a speech to the European Parliament outlining Bonn's plans for its presidency of the Union this week, Fischer said the new federal government “advocates limiting the need for unanimity in the EU in the longer term to questions of fundamental importance such as treaty revisions”.
