Date: 07/01/1999 this week stressed his government's commitment to reaching agreement on the EU's Agenda 2000 reforms by the end of March, and urged other EU governments to take advantage of the euro's successful launch to carry the reform negotiations to a speedy conclusion. “Our commitment to wrapping up the Agenda 2000 in March is the clearest proof that we want enlargement as soon as possible,” he said. But French Agriculture Minister Jean Glavany warned that the European Commission's proposals for overhauling the Common Agricultural Policy could delay the wider reform package. |
