A spokesman for Foreign Affairs Commissioner Hans van den Broek said this week that the Commission could not accept Bern's “pick and choose approach”, referring to the Swiss refusal to join the European Economic Area. The Union and Switzerland recently initialled a bilateral agreement on a range of areas including agriculture, transport and free movement of people. But the deal still needs to be formally approved. |
