During a meeting in Dublin, Acting Farm Commissioner Franz Fischler told his US counterpart Dan Glickman that the Commission believed hormones could not be proved safe. He added that the Union would try to reach a negotiated settlement with the US by offering Washington better market access on other goods. Last week, the US reduced the value of EU exports to be hit with sanctions if the Union does not lift its ban from €905 million to €190 million.
