Greek tuna fishermen face the biggest reduction, with catches having to be cut by 54&percent; to only 126 tonnes in 1996 because of overfishing in previous years. Ministers also decided to reduce the cod catch in 1999 to 334, 200 tonnes compared to 367,000 tonnes last year, while the haddock take must be scaled back by 20&percent;.
